Class A Volunteer Registration

Background Check instructions:
By going through this portal, you will be both registering with Special Olympics Washington as a Class A Volunteer and you will be going through our background check process. You will need your name, birthday and social security number to complete the background check process. Volunteers must be 18 years and older to complete the background check.
Who is a Class A Volunteer?
- Volunteers, who have regular, close physical contact with athletes.
- Volunteers in a position of authority or supervision with athletes.
- Volunteers in a position of trust of athletes.
- Volunteers who handle substantial amounts of cash or other assets of the Program.
A Class A Volunteer is a coach, chaperone, some officials, a mentor, program lead, etc. All Class A Volunteers must go through a background check process before participation in SOWA programs.
You will be able to access your Verified Volunteers account and track the status of your background check. Background checks for Special Olympics Washington are valid for 3 years and must be renewed before expiration if you are actively interacting with athletes.
Please complete all steps util you receive a confirmation email from both TRS and Verified Volunteers.
